Some PC Manufacturers Meet Chinese Software Filtering Deadline
Several Ship Filtering Software Anyway
Even though the Chinese government agreed to delay the mandatory shipment of Internet Green Dam filtering software, several PC manufacturers are anyway, including Taiwan's Acer and BenQ, Japan's Sony, and China's Haier and Lenovo Groups, the AP reports. Acer said that it had already packaged the software before the delay was announced, but others gave no reason for why they are shipping the software.
The AP story also reported that the Chinese government was still contemplating making the shipment of the filtering software mandatory.
Given how so many PC manufacturers caved in, the Chinese government must be secretly pleased and confident that it can make manufacturers dance to their tune.
