Modeling Multipacting Phenomena with the VORPAL code
Available Now
Multipacting is the resonance generation of electrons produced by electrons accelerated into a solid surface by oscillating electromagnetic fields. In some situations, this resonant generation can grow exponentially, absorbing power and significantly modifying the applied fields. This can lead to hard limitations on the power transmitted in rf devices. In this webinar, we show how VORPAL can help engineers and researchers understand and mitigate multipacting in real rf systems. We will show how to import a complex geometry (for instance, from CAD) into VORPAL and use VORPAL to find the multipacting resonances of that geometry.
