PDA innovator Palm has been bleeding cash for years, and now Wall Street has put the company into play
Palm, the progenitor of the PalmPilot, the Treo, and now the Pre, has come on hard times, yet it still has half a billion dollars in the bank, an easy-to-use operating system, and lots of useful patents. But a report by a Taiwanese business magazine last week that HTC might buy the company has set off a feeding frenzy that now includes Lenovo and Goldman Sachs, and perhaps soon even Nokia.
