In three years Jacob Melvin went from struggling computer science student to technical director of Dreamworks' animated film, "How to Train Your Dragon."  It's March, 2007, and there's Melvin, a senior computer science major at the University of Colorado at Boulder. He's got a two-point-something grade point average, and he's barely hanging on in a required class. He's not worried about trying to land his dream job. He's worried about graduating. The problem isn't so much that he isn't interested in computers, it's that he is too interested in computer applications that aren't in the curriculum
