Riding the subway in New York means sharing the audible spectrum with an assortment of solicitors, preachers, musicians, loud talkers, lone talkers. That's why I need my iPod. Lately I've been listening to a podcast called Talking Robots, produced by the Laboratory of Intelligent Systems at EPFL, in Switzerland. Each episode features an interview with a robotics or AI researcher.

In the anniversary edition of Talking Robots the director of the Stanford AI Lab (SAIL) Sebastian Thrun gives us an insight into how Probabilistic Robotics helped his team win the 2005 DARPA Grand Challenge - and about his plans for the future beyond the 2007 DARPA Urban Challenge.
